There are many ways to design the hero sections of a website homepage in order to communicate, to captivate and to impress the visitors. Designers can use a wide range of combinations with typography, images, animations, illustrations and more. Recently, I stumbled upon a design trend of using small graphical elements on the homepage’s hero section.

These small graphical elements are often used to compliment the website’s hero message, and when done right, it can help setting the tone, and further amplify the look and feel of the website. Here I collected 10 excellent examples of how it’s being applied.

Family

Family is a crypto wallet that is user friendly with many attention to the design details. On their homepage, you can see the graphical shapes animated in flat colours. The various shapes are representing the different features of the wallet, and they also made the hero section fun and welcoming.

Givingli

Givingli is a digital gifting service where you can send digital gift cards and physical gifts from brands curated by them. When you land on their homepage, you are greeted with the fun and sticker-like graphics plastered on the hero section. It enriches the sense of celebration and also communicate to the visitors that they can rely on them for many kinds of gifting ideas for different celebrations.

10xDesigners

10xDesigners is an online community dedicated to designers where designers can learn, connect with other like-minded designers to grow together as a professional designer. To give a good first impression as a fresh, high quality and a promising community, the hero section was filled with 3D metallic primitive shapes (little easter eggs: they can be dragged), that showcases the multidisciplinary nature of the design field.
