As a part of Design Develop Now (DDN), we were challenged to redesign the CY Notary site with the following brief.

The Challenge

Company CY Notary is a company that specialized in Notary support and learning. Company CY Notary wants to redesign its website and launch learning courses that provide online courses to do more With Commission on Notary.

The main challenge is to design the website for the existing customers and also for new users. So that, the new user can get their service easily on the hand existing shouldn’t be frustrated because they are already used to the website.

This was their Old Website

Objectives

Based on the research results, we were challenged to design a landing page for CY Notary with the following specifications.

  • User-friendly design
  • Attractive interface
  • Increases users motivation to get service

The features needed on the landing page are:

  • Service List
  • Course offered
  • How it Work
  • Application Process
  • Transactions and payment

Design Process: Design Thinking

Design Thinking Stages

1 — Empathize

The main idea of the empathize stage is to understand our users, including their problems, their needs, and their point of view. From the research provided by the challenge brief, we know the targeted demographic is as the following.

User type 1

  • Age: 18–55
  • Profession: Business/Job
  • Customer Base: Existing Customer
  • Economy: Middle to upper class

User type 2

  • Age: 18–55
  • Profession: Business/Job
  • Customer Base: New Customer
  • Economy: Middle to upper class

After a lot of research, I and another designer Avijit Rath send 2 different designs to the team and the team sends the client for feedback.

The design provided by Avijit was a creative and modern design. I am also like that one.

This design was provided by Avijit. Clean and Fresh

This design was provided to the team before I can send my design to the team. The full team was like the design. As you can see below conversation between DDN and Me. the problem with the design is that UX.

This kind of problem arises when we don’t do proper user research, and problem analysis. The website should be informative and user-centric. For that kind of real-world landing page design, the design doesn’t look modern but serves the goal.

Final Design was done by me

When I design this one, I first think about the target group, then their age, and find out their likes/dislikes. Why they should visit the site. what will be the user goal?

I know many of you might think that the design done by Avijit looks more impressive than my one. But, that design couldn’t solve the problem which is required.

Through this UI/UX study case, I have learned a lot of new things. This experience has pushed me to continue and improve my design and research skills. If you have any feedback to better this UI/UX study case, please feel free to comment!😊
