The Future of Creativity is Threatened by AI – Artist in Danger

Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized many aspects of our lives and is increasingly becoming a part of our daily routine. From virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa to self-driving cars and facial recognition, AI is rapidly transforming the world we live in. However, while AI is here to stay, creativity still depends on humanity.
Nowadays we have each day one new achievement made by AI, all we know this technology has made significant advancements in recent years, months, weeks, days, and every second; this impact can be seen in various fields, including music, art (especially art where a lot of artists claim plagiarism and copywriting issues), and writing. AI algorithms can now generate music, compose poetry, and even create art. But the question here is :
“It’s real art?”

These developments have sparked a debate about the role of AI in creative fields, and whether it will eventually replace human creativity altogether. This could be a problem or even a paradox (I will explain this later in this article), contemplating in the hypothetical case that happens, the global market will have on its hands a work crisis that could involve several if not all industries. Because which industry doesn’t use “creativity” as a tool in a certain way, or percentage?
A study by Ernst & Young, UNESCO, and CISAC finally put some numbers on how much cultural and creative industries (CCI) contribute to the global economy. And let me tell you, it’s a LOT.
We are talking $2,250 billion in revenue, which is 3% of the entire world’s GDP. And the top industries in this game are television, newspapers/magazines, and visual arts. They’re bringing in more cash than the whole telecommunications industry and even more than India’s entire GDP!
But it’s not just about the money, my friends. These industries also employ a whopping 29.5 million people worldwide. That’s more than the entire automotive industry in the US, Europe, and Japan combined! In fact, in Europe, the cultural sectors employ more young people (between 15–29 years old) than any other industry. And more ladies are participating in these industries than traditional ones, too.
And you know what else is cool? Small businesses and individuals are a big part of this industry’s success. They keep things innovative and agile, which is super important. In the US, artists are 3.5 times more likely to work for themselves than the rest of the working population. So yeah, living in America for a creative is paradise 🇺🇸💵

So, if we take all the information about the industry we can agree that AI can generate creative outputs, but it cannot replicate the unique human experience that goes into creating art. The human mind is capable of imagining, conceptualizing, and expressing emotions that AI simply cannot replicate, or at least not so far 🫠

Creativity involves a process of exploration, experimentation, and iteration, which requires human intuition, imagination, and emotion.
For example, when a painter creates a piece of art, they are not only using their technical skills but also their emotions, experiences, and perspectives to create something unique.
Similarly, when a musician composes a song, they are expressing their feelings and emotions through the lyrics and melody. AI may be able to create music, art, or writing that resembles the work of humans, but it lacks the emotional depth and authenticity that comes from human experience. Creativity is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, and it cannot be replicated by machines.

The Paradox
As AI is only as creative as the data it is trained on. AI algorithms require a vast amount of data to learn and generate outputs, and the quality of these outputs is limited by the quality and quantity of data used. All this data was generated in centuries of evolution by HUMANS.
So basically the AI takes creativity already created by humans and processes that, mixing existing information, artist, colors, sounds, and more, into something “new”, but it’s something new? Or is it just a combination of something already made? The AI feeds herself with human creativity, that’s the key.
In contrast, humans are not bound by data limitations and can draw from a variety of experiences and emotions to create something entirely new. But there is also a big problem for humanity if we stop creating and we just rely on AI to be “creatives” and create art, music, etc. real creativity will not be produced anymore, exploring new art techniques, exploring and experimenting with new sounds and visions of something never seen before. If humanity and creatives start using AI as a creativity generator and not just as a tool, the industry and creativity will freeze and not evolve to the next level. Because it will be always the same but just mixed differently by the AI.

While AI is here to stay and will continue to revolutionize many aspects of our lives, creativity still depends on humanity, but nothing is free, as creatives, we have to keep creating from the scratch, experimenting and proposing, not generating everything with AI but using it as a tool to improve our talents and experiments.
AI may be able to generate outputs that resemble human creativity, but it lacks the emotional depth and authenticity that comes from the human experience. Creativity is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, and it cannot be replicated by machines but it can be improved by them.
