Requirements Gathering in UX
Hello everyone, So I'll tell you about the Requirements Gathering in today’s read-time story. like What are requirements gathering? Why do we do this? What’s the goal of this?

What do you mean by Requirement Gathering?
So, Requirement gathering is the first phase of the User Interface design cycle.
Now, what is the User Interface design cycle? The user interface design cycle is a process where we design Usable & Useful digital products. The process contains 4 phases #1 Requirement Gathering #2 Design Alternative #3 Prototyping and the last one #4 Evaluation.

Why do we perform Requirement Gathering?
The Goal Requirements Gathering is to find the problem space. Now, what is problem space? Problem space is a kind of list where all problems are given. In easy words, we perform requirement gathering to find the existing problems. The problem phase includes: Who are the Users? When, Where, Why, and how do they currently accomplish or complete a task? List of User’s for improving the product / wish list and so more…
Types of Users as a Skateholders in Requirement Gathering
There is a total of 3 types of users #1 Primary #2 Secondary and #3 Tertiary. Primary Skateholders are the persons who have a strong connection with the designers and when the designers build a product/prototype, they use it directly means they use it immediately. Secondary shareholders are the persons who have a less strong connection with designers and they also use the final product not directly but indirectly. Tertiary stakeholders are the persons who have very less connection with the design and don’t even use the final product but the main design makes an impact on them depending on the design it’s positive or negative.
Types of Data in Requirement Gathering
There are 2 types of data:
- Qualitative Data ( which is based on Thematic Information )
- Quantitative Data ( which is based on numerical information )
Types of Techniques in Requirement Gathering
- Naturalistic Observation ( In this technique we simply observe a user and how he/she is currently accomplishing a task ) Goal ( To watch the user in action in their own environment )
- Surveys ( In this technique we ask several questions from the users ) Goal (Get user's opinions)
- Focus groups ( In this technique we make a team of designers and a team of 5 to 10 users and then 10 minutes of creative exercise and 45 minutes of discussion ) Goal ( To engage users in direct conversation )
- Interview ( The last technique of requirement gathering is the interview in this activity we do face-to-face one-on-one designer and user interaction ) Goal ( To gather in-depth information from a single user at a time ).
Types of Techniques to present user data
- Descriptive statistics ( The minimum and the max numbers. The average score of a certain set and the Myth score for a set )
- User Characteristics ( User Characteristics Table, Provide us a summary about the users and what we’ve learned )
- Personas ( It allows us to create storytelling user information based on Qualitative and Quantitative Data )
