Figma cheatsheet from beginner to master in 5 minutes
Disclaimer: 1. This sheet is for Mac users. 2. It reflects my personal views only.
How to use this sheet
I can’t use Figma → Start from level 1 and incorporate those tricks into my workflow. Level up when I get comfortable with the basics.
I can use Figma → ⌘+F on the web page and search for that feature I have in mind.
Level 1. Navigation Basics
For product manager/developer/design starters
Zoom in/out: ⌘+ scroll apple magic mouse/Pinch with two fingers on the trackpad
Tip: you can also use ⌘+ “+” and ⌘+ “-”, but it’s much easier with the scroll wheel.
Zoom to fit: Shift+1
Zoom to 100%: Shift+0
Select object: ⌘+click
Tip: always use this when selecting an object or you’ll end up selecting more objects than you actually need
Check specs/CSS: go to the right panel, select “inspect”, in the “CSS” section select the hamburger button next to “<>”
Tip: code in hamburger menu is cleaner than in “<>”. In the “CSS” dropdown, there’s also “ios” and “android” code. “Android” code is dysfunctional.
Add a comment: c
Export: select the asset you want to export, find “export” on the right panel, select “+” next to “export”
Show short-cut at all time: click on the floating question mark in the bottom right, select “keyboard shortcuts” to have the shortcuts sheet open
Figma resources: find every question you have here or watch a demo
Level 2. Intermediate Functions
For working designers
Show/hide Layout Grids: Ctrl+shift+4
Tip: this may be obvious, but you need to add a grid in the right panel first for it to show up
Copy and paste style: ⌘+option+C to copy, ⌘+V to paste
Bring to front: ⌘+Alt+]
Send to back: ⌘+Alt+[
