Friends of Figma, what is it?
Friends of Figma is a community of designers who share the same passion and come together at events & talks to share real-world experiences, best practices, and anecdotes!
“Figma Community Advocate” is the title given to an ambassador of the Figma tool who wants to go further by animating a community around design in their city.”
My start with Friends of Figma
I joined Friends of Figma in November 2020 with Pierre-Antoine Nicolay and Ugo Jauffret.
Together we created the first Friends of Figma community in 🇫🇷!
On January 14, 2021, we held our first event on the theme of “Collaboration between Designers & Devs,” with the designers and devs team from Heetch + Andreas (the Co-founder of Luego). They honored us by sharing their best practices and a few tips!
Since then, we have been organizing virtual, hybrid, and in-person events almost every month. By the way, if you are interested, don’t hesitate to contact me 🤙🏼
I am often asked these questions:
Why do you invest so much in @Friends of Figma, knowing that it is volunteer work and that you don’t monetize your events?
Mainly for 2 reasons:
1️⃣ Very often, when looking for a new methodology, design process, or tips/tricks, we mainly come across English-language articles from the US.
So I wanted to highlight our experts and know-how in FR.

2️⃣ I also wanted to try the adventure of animating a community that brings together design enthusiasts like me. It’s also a great opportunity to get to know new people 😍

What are the conditions to become a Figma Community Advocate?
✅ You already use Figma
✅ You are motivated to animate a community and bring together design enthusiasts from your city
✅ As a Community Advocate, you commit to keeping your group active by organizing at least one event per quarter
✅ You accept the Friends of Figma code of conduct and believe that it is important to offer safe and inclusive experiences for all participants in your events
What is the process for creating a Friends of Figma community?
