The Split Screen Method can generate infinite poses and facial expressions for a consistent character. It enables you to create a virtual model for commercial applications and storytelling. (All images were created with Midjourney by the author.)

A reusable virtual character is a valuable asset to any business.

Finding a way to create a consistent character in the photographic style is one of the most sought-after techniques in Midjourney.

A consistent character allows for more vivid and engaging storytelling. But even with the addition of inpainting Vary (Region), there is no easy way to accomplish this in Midjourney V5.2.

A review of current methods

Here are the known techniques for developing a consistent photographic character:

(1) Methods that make use of keywords like “multiple poses” by Christie C., “character sheet” by Morten Staveley, and “2 different poses and facial expressions” by me.

  • These methods allow for the quick creation of multiple poses for a character but suffer from low resolution due to the small size of individual images. Creating additional sets of photos is difficult or impossible.

(2) Methods that lock the image creation process with a seed number and Vary (Subtle) by multiple authors.

You're right. The method is intended for creating new characters in V5.2 and possibly in newer versions. Glad that you've tested in older versions and let me know the results! Thank you :-)
