Is it a bad time to become a UX UI Designer?

For me, when I started looking for a full-time UX UI design gig it was during the great recession period (2009-ish). Yes, it was tough since I was entering my career for the first time as a designer.

Thing is, I just never gave up no matter how many job rejections I’ve received because design was everything to me. Still is — I love it! Because of my passion, I kept going and took every hit possible.

I landed my first full-time UX UI design role at a small company with a starting yearly salary of $35k. My goal was to aim for $40k but since I was a college drop-out I knew I had to take a hit (After taxes, $5k doesn’t really matter, it’s pretty much the same thing).
