Despite having a large following on Twitter, the majority of the jobs I’ve gotten as a designer have come from LinkedIn. Yes, I use LinkedIn to network with others and to highlight my skills and experience. I consider my LinkedIn profile to be my online resume because I’ve realized how important it is to my career. I’ve had several recruiters contact me through LinkedIn, some of which have resulted in great work and connections. Optimizing your LinkedIn profile can help you stand out to potential recruiters and increase your chances of landing a job. Here are some tips to improve your LinkedIn profile.
Use a good profile and cover image
Having a professional head-shot and cover image on LinkedIn can help you make a positive first impression, establish credibility, build your personal brand, and make valuable connections.

Write a catchy headline
Your headline appears directly beneath your name and should provide a brief summary of who you are and what you do. This is because it enhances your search-ability. Recruiters frequently search for candidates by job titles and LinkedIn’s search algorithm takes into account the words in your headline, so a well-crafted headline can help you appear higher in search results for relevant keywords.
For example, instead of writing things like: Pet lover, design enthusiast, tech enthusiast, etc. in your headline, write your job title and skill set.
