How over-releasing can choke your users

We all love new stuff. The latest gadgets, a fast car, and updates in our apps. Looking at myself, I can be an early adopter when it comes to gadgets. I can buy the latest, shiniest tech thing without thinking about it. Exploring the interface, check out the intuitiveness, it tends to give make me feel nostalgic.

The first Pokemon games on Nintendo’s Game Boy is a great example of my nostalgia. The whole exploration gave me a physical sensation. It still does, when I see my son with his Pokemon cards and watching the cartoon. A second game with a fresh load of critters was added. New games appeared and I loved them again. But then even more were added. And a new generation of games tagged along.

That was the point where I noticed it was too much for me. At that point, I noticed I felt overwhelmed and it was too much for me to keep up.

“Too much” exists

As of now, there are 898 creations of the successful franchise. It was way too much for me to keep up with. Each of the animals can learn new abilities and attacks. They all have unique characteristics. Remembering those for more than 250 within a short timeframe was too much for me.
