Free Template for UX Whiteboard Challenges or Requirements Gathering
There are a lot of templates out there for gathering requirements from stakeholders and brainstorming solutions, such as are used for both whiteboard challenges and for real, live meetings you may hold as a UX or Product Designer.
I’m sharing with you the easiest template I’ve found so far, and it’s one I’ve created using Google Jamboard.
The template is just one page, and with Jamboard you can add to the fields in real time with sticky notes of different colors. When in meetings, I will share my screen to capture insights and help focus the meeting. You can also have others collaborate in the file with you.
The benefits of this approach are many.
First, using this template helps both you and your stakeholder make choices about what goals are actually those of the user, while others are truly business goals. Second, This template helps everyone keep the audience in mind, and think about who is actually using your product. And third, this helps the stakeholder to see that you are considering possible solutions — while refraining from making any decisions just yet!
Working at a company with a lot of smart people, stakeholders and other team members will often come to the table with a lot of preconceived ideas. It’s best that early on, no one is too prescriptive about what to do, until you’ve fleshed out the why.
You can make a copy of my template here for your own use: https://jamboard.google.com/d/1ehWUG8x_wmZOf--HK82qEnVfxvpKtFN4wEmXgwP3M9Y/edit?usp=sharing
