According to Midjourney's latest announcement during office hours, we can expect to see V6 coming soon and here are the upcoming changes:
Expected Changes
- Higher Resolution: For v6, we expect to see images with better-resolution images and possibly have their own upscaler.
- Improved Natural Language Processing: It will interpret text inputs better.
- Images will be More Accurate and Detailed
- Increase Degree of Control
- Variation Change: Possible mode for higher and more subtle variations
Possible Updates
- A New Remix Mode
- Turbo Mode: Around 2–3 times as faster
- Higher Price Tier: With more fast hours at a lower price and possible generation of more images per command (16 images instead of 4)
More Potential Functions
Drag-and-Drop Control
They are working on new functions like DragGAN, a new AI editing tool that lets you make changes to the image with simple drag-and-drop controls on the image. But we may only see it in v7.
A potential Uncorp button — Outpainting
It will be a new functionality that enables users to expand their creative possibilities by continuing an image beyond its original borders — incorporating additional visual elements in a consistent style or exploring new narrative paths.
This technique can generate larger images from smaller ones or create plausible extrapolations of an image’s content.
For the meantime, you can use Uncrop by Clipdrop, a free AI tool to outpaint your image.
3D Drawing and Video
The team is also doing some exciting work on 3D and drawing/painting support. You can input a drawing or actively draw with the help of a GPU in real-time, though it may be costly.
They also hinted that they are working on video stuff but that will take longer.
A standalone website and mobile app
As you may have noticed from their announcement, we can expect a standalone website version of Midjourney and a mobile app dedicated to creating images.
Upgarde Niji Mode is coming!
While we are waiting for v6, be prepared for an Upgrade of the Niji Mode! It will be similar to an upgrade from v5 to v5.1 for more outstanding Anime!
