Choose the right color palette for your designs in 3 simple steps

Choosing colors plays a vital role in your designs. It literally can make or break your designs. But, sometimes choosing the right palette can be overwhelming for all the designers out there. Especially when you’re starting from scratch and your client has no base or primary color set. Also, choosing the wrong dominant color for your client may turn out to be a huge error on your part as the values won’t match with your client’s vision.

Here’s what the main primary colors mean physiologically. You can read more about why this is important and how other brands use it here.
I know it’s overwhelming choosing the right palette because sometimes even I get stuck while choosing the colors, satisfying the 60–30–10 rule, making the designs pop, and aligning with the vision. So, I found this great tool that’ll somewhat simplify the process of choosing colors. I know why you’re here so let’s dive right into the steps.
Step 1: Choose a primary dominant color based on your preference. I’m choosing #06D6A0 for this blog post.

Step 2: Visit mycolor.space and enter the main dominant color of your choice and press enter or hit Generate.

Step 3: Look through the generated palette and choose the right one based on your preference.

I’m gonna go ahead and select two more colors to complete the 60–30–10 palette.

So, my final colors are: #06D6A0 (D), #E9FEF5 (C), #333333 (A).

You can play around and switch the accent colors between white and black, maybe create a gradient.
Here’s are some examples of designs using this palette:
- In this example, I used #E9FEF5 as the primary dominant color, #333333 as the complementary, and #06D6A0 as the accent color.

2. In this example, I used #E9FEF5 as the primary dominant color, #333333, and #06D6A0 as the complementary colors, & #008B86 as the accent color.
