Adobe Firefly — An AI Image Generator
Adobe’s Big Announcement: Introducing Firefly AI Text to Image Generator.

Adobe Firefly?
Adobe is releasing its own AI image maker. It’s called ‘Adobe Firefly’ and has two tools that use it. One of them lets users type in a prompt (like in Midjourney) that creates an image. The other makes fancy text like WordArt but with the help of AI.

Other companies have made new tools for creating art and sound, but Adobe has been quiet for a while. But now Adobe has made a big announcement. Adobe’s new AI program is called Firefly, and it’s not finished yet so they had set its beta version only. You can only use it on the internet for now. But later, Adobe will add Firefly to its other programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere.

Ethical Approach to AI and Art Creation!
Adobe is doing something different with its new AI program. They are talking about what kind of information their program is learning from. Adobe is only using things that don’t belong to other people or that they have permission to use. This way, they won’t make things that are copies of other people’s work, and they won’t get in trouble for using things they’re not supposed to. Adobe can make good art without copying other people.
Costin said, “We can generate high-quality content and not random brands’ and others’ IP because our model has never seen that brand content or trademark”.
Adobe wants to make its AI tools easier to use than other companies. Instead of typing weird words to style a picture, Adobe has options for art styles, lighting, and image size that are more detailed than what Canva offers. You can apply these effects to a picture that you’ve already made, instead of making a new one each time. You can still make your own effects if you want to. The text effect tool is similar, with built-in options for the effect size and background color.
Problem!
Adobe plans to add a feature to Photoshop that might cause arguments. Artists could teach the system to create content in their own style. However, some people might use this to copy another artist’s work. Adobe is considering how to deal with this problem. One idea is to compare uploaded images to Behance, which is a social network for artists that Adobe owns, to catch anyone stealing art. But, they haven’t made a final decision on what to do yet.
Adobe wants to prevent art theft by giving artists a tool to block AI from using their work. They are creating a system called “Do Not Train” that lets artists add a request to an image’s data, which could prevent training systems from using it. However, this will only work if other creators agree to respect the request. Adobe has not announced any partners who have agreed to do so yet, but they are talking with other model creators about it.
So,
It’s too early to say for sure if Adobe’s Firefly is better than Midjourney, stable diffusion, or Dall-E at teaching its AI. However, it looks promising so far.
Firefly’s first two tools are ready for people to test. Anyone can request access, even if they’re not a Creative Cloud subscriber, but Adobe is only letting a limited number of people try it out.
