In 2022, it was predicted designers would create powerful visual experiences with bold layouts, competing elements, multiple fonts, little white space, and clashing colors and patterns. Some brash and obnoxious design choices and they were not wrong.
Now let’s look at the trends coming in UX, UI and Product Design for 2023.
#1 Anti Modes
Anti Light Mode: Gone are the days where users maybe occassionally wanted to switch to dark mode, now it is an expectation that our devices and interfaces are luminous intensity adaptable and can change accordingly. Allow the choice to disregard light mode in favour of our night time friend dark mode, for when the light feels too harsh — like those glorious pair of sunglasses at 10am after a night out. More and more people are trending towards dark mode with the original lighter interfaces now regarded almost with a scoff at how outdated or annoying it can be.
